GLSEN Omaha primarily supports efforts in and around the greater Omaha area to further education and policies which reflect safe and welcoming school environments for all students, regardless of real or perceived sexual orientation and/or gender identity and/or expression.
At a national level, GLSEN works to ensure safe schools through school resource support, advocacy, and education. Chapters exist throughout the country, which work closely with the national staff of GLSEN to implement programs and affect positive change in school communities. The work that chapters do directly influences the ability for schools to be safe, welcoming and equitable. GLSEN Omaha believes and advocates for the rights of ALL students to receive an education free of bullying and harassment.
Chapters like GLSEN Omaha play an important role in bringing GLSEN’s programs and vision to our local school communities. While some chapters have full-time or part-time employees, we are a board of volunteers. They are always looking for new board members, volunteers, and/or allies to help ensure safe schools for all students.
